Kaasen is the world’s smallest and most technically advanced Cryostimulation device for Healthcare professionals.

The Kaasen is the first device in the world that can offer cooling and Cryostimulation treatments through interchangeable nozzle attachments.

The term ‘cryotherapy’ literally means ‘treatment using low temperature’.

Cryotherapy compliments the treatment of a variety of acute and chronic tissue damage following injury or surgery.

It can also be used to enhance tissue recovery as part of a training regime.

This can be as simple as applying an icepack to a sprain or swelling.

But instead of 30-45 minutes, the Kaasen only takes 90 seconds.

The purpose of applying cold to an injured area is to induce a natural reaction in the body to the low temperature.

When the body is cooled significantly, it encourages a favorable biological response to the cold stress which, amongst other things, promotes tissue recovery.

To promote the most favorable results, cryotherapy is combined with pressure applied to the area; as per the P.R.I.C.E treatment protocol:

      Protect
 Rest
Ice
                 Compression
          Elevation
      Protect
      Rest
      Ice
      Compression
      Elevation

Until now, cold stress or “thermal shock” has primarily been achieved by applying ice-packs, cold plates, ice-baths or by entering a whole-body cryochamber.

While these methods have their individual benefits, many do not provide an optimal level of cooling or the combination of cooling and pressure together.

A visible reduction of up to 2-4 inches can be seen after a single 90 second to 4 minute treatment.

Vasoconstriction

Vasodilation

Cold CO2

Utilizing carbon dioxide at
–78°C and 50 bar pressure, the tissues are cooled to 4°C in under 30 seconds, causing Thermal Shock.

Vasoconstriction

The constriction of vessels and muscles slows the blood flow and forces the immune and hormonal systems to respond.

Vasodilation

Immediately the blood vessels dilate to around four times their usual size. This floods the area with blood, which is rich in oxygen, hormones, nutrients and activated enzymes.

Blood vessels quickly constrict then dilate to flood the tissue with a burst of blood that is rich in oxygen, hormones, and nutrients.
